Drywall Hole Repair
A large broken-out section of drywall above the baseboard, patched, finished and painted to disappear.
The request
A big section of drywall near the floor had broken out, exposing the inside of the wall and leaving debris on the hardwood floor. The owner wanted it repaired so no one could tell it ever happened.
Work completed
- Cut back to solid drywall: The damaged, crumbling drywall was cut back to clean edges so the patch would have a solid base.
- Patch & tape: A new drywall piece was fitted, secured and taped at the seams.
- Mud, sand & texture: Joint compound was applied in thin coats and sanded smooth to blend into the surrounding wall.
- Paint & baseboard: The area was primed and painted to match, and the baseboard was put back in place.
Result
A smooth, invisible repair — the wall looks like the damage never happened, and the floor is clean.
Why large drywall holes need a real patch
Small dings can be filled, but a hole this size needs new drywall, tape and several coats of compound. Skipping steps leaves a bulge or a visible outline once it's painted. Done right, the repair disappears.
